Lesson 22 Advanced Tech. using F. E. method #2
In the previous lesson I explained the AIKI Uke technique to collapse the opponent who attacks you by Chudan Tsuki.
This time, it will be further developed that the opponent will be collapsed down at the instance you make AIKI Uke.
Chudan Soto Uke Otoshi
A and B stand by face to face.
A…Defender
B…Attacker
a・Stepping forward with left foot, B attacks A by left Chudan Jun Tsuki.
b・Pulling left leg to make Hidari Hanmi stance, A “blocks” it with his right lower arm in the form of Karate’s Chudan Soto Uke with applying AIKI Uke, i.e. instantaneously create Force Equilibrium state.
c・Then A impacts B’s left arm with the elbow of his right arm.
d・The impact causes B to collapse down.
The most important point in this AIKI Uke is to give an impact shock to the stiffened body of the opponent who is in the Force Equilibrium state.
1 Push down your right elbow with shorter distance
To master how to apply this instant impact to the opponent who is in the Force Equilibrium state, first let’s experience by yourself what it’s like.
Both sit in Seiza, facing each other with your knees contacting each other.
a・Let the opponent hold out his hands with palms up.
b・You put your hands on his hands with palms down. Relax your arms to create Force Equilibrium state.
c・Push down both hands by bouncing motion.
d・The opponent receives a shock to the entire body and collapses down.
e・The shorter the pushing distance, the more effective, and the longer the pushing distance, the less the impact force.
2 Give impulse shock to the opponent’s stiffened body
Next, let’s actually push down the left arm of the opponent which you “blocked” by Karate’s Soto Uke at once in a short distance.
Till so far you practiced to stiffen the opponent body by Force Equilibrium method and move his stiffened body to collapse him. But this time, instead of moving his body, give his body an impulse shock at the contacting place.
When you do that, it becomes a technique that “pulverizes” the opponent’s entire body. You will be surely surprised with the effect.
Summary of Lesson 22
There are many other applications that can be applied from the Force Equilibrium method to the technique of giving an impact to the opponent and collapse him instantly.
For example, create a Force Equilibrium state by pressing the opponent’s chest with your Tate Ken, vertical fist. Then, give him an impact force from that fist to the opponent. He immediately falls down to the ground.
I think this is similar to the poking called Cùn Jìn that is performed in Chinese martial arts.
