Lesson 20 Advanced tech. using T. F. T. #2
This Lesson, continuing from the last lesson, it is an advanced technique that uses the Targeted Force Transfer method.
What is different from the last time is that the target is not located in the same line as the force is applied.
Therefore you need to use much more strong consciousness for this case.
Kata Ude Aiki Taoshi
A and B stand by face to face.
A…Defender
B…Attacker
a・B puts his right foot forward and attacks with JYODAN SHUTO ATE with his right arm.
b・A turns clockwise by pulling his right foot back (HIDARI HANMI) to block B’s Jyodan Shuto Ate with his right arm.
c・Then A puts his left hand on B’s elbow with grasping his right wrist with right hand. Then A pushes B’s right arm down.
d・B resists A’s downward pushing and blocks his motion.
e・A then pushes B’s arm targeting his force to B’s abdomen.
f・B cannot resist A’s push and falls to the floor.
In case the opponent resists so strongly and you intend to collapse him by force, it is quite difficult to collapse him down.
Then you can use AIKI based on the method Targeted Force Transfer.
You support the opponent’s right wrist from below who keeps firmly without unbalancing his body. And you place your left hand on his right lower arm. Those are the same for Jujutsu technique.
Push down the opponent’s lower arm with the intention of applying force directly to the opponent’s abdomen without applying force to the contact point of both arms.
Then the opponent collapses without resisting the motion at all.
1 How to avoid putting force to the contact place
In the beginning, you will inevitably put some force on the contact point of your arm. Then try to set the target point closer, say at his right shoulder instead of his abdomen.
When you succeed this, set the target point as his abdomen.
2 Try to move the opponent’s whole body
You should make an image try to move his whole body instead of his arm.
For example, Just imagine you want to push a small bag on wheels which you take to airplane trip with you. For this type of bag, you normally extend the handle and apply force from it’s top.
But if you just push it, the bag will not move forward and will fall over.
In this case, you should try to push the bag by slightly adjusting the direction of the force you apply to the grip located at the top of handle.
The technique is the same for this case. The important point is to push your arm with a strong consciousness of moving the opponent’s whole body.
