Lesson 5 - AIKI Connection
This method works, by using 【very light contact (AIKI contact) 】, to create the illusion that your hand which is touching to the other is a part of his body.
When you move the hand you are touching, the other person feels like 【a part of his body moves on its own】and follows your movement without resistance.
Now I explain this method by using the technique 【AIKI Kata Kuzushi】
AIKI Kata Kuzushi
A stands behind B facing to the same direction.
A…Defender
B…Attacker
a・A stands behind B and puts both hands to B’s shoulders.
b・A touches B’s shoulders so light and delicately as touching or not touching without putting any force onto his hands.
c・Then A and B start feeling something warm at the contacting places. It means AIKI Connection is created.
d・A pulls back his both hands very gently. B’s body is pulled without resistance and he falls down backward.
Perhaps 99% of people put too much force in their hands, no matter I describe how softly and delicately they have to touch.
Therefore, first of all, please recognize that 【touching with a really slight force】far exceeds your imagination.
Based on that, I will explain the points to move while maintaining this AIKI contact.
1 Move your arms delicately and carefully
Even if you succeed to create AIKI Connection, it will be broken if excessive force is applied to the hands or arms when you move the arms.
So you have to move your arms really carefully and gently.
2 Move body instead of arms
If the practice ① is too difficult to do, move your body instead of arms.
Keep the hands and arms that are touching the opponent as they are, twist your body to the side. Then you can move the opponent while maintaining AIKI Connection.
Summary of Lesson 5
AIKI Connection is a very delicate contact.
And by being gently moved, the person will feel like a part of his body is moving, and he will not want to resist your movement.
By the way, what happens if you do the same thing from the front? Nine times out of ten it ends in failure. It is because your consciousness is disturbed by facing the other person.
In this case, having the other person close his eyes will increase the success rate.
