The Living Lineage and True Path of Kendo.
Rooted in the traditions of the pre-war era, Shodokan is one of Japan’s most respected kendo dojos.
OKADA Morimasa (Kyoshi, 8th Dan), the current headmaster, shares the sword principles passed down from his grandfather, OKADA Morihiro (Hanshi in kendo and iaido), as well as the teachings of the legendary kensei, SAIMURA Goro.
Through a detailed breakdown of Japanese kendo kata, this instructional work explores ichibyoshi (one-beat timing) and demonstrates how it connects to:
Coordinated body movement for powerful o-waza (large, decisive techniques)
Practical applications in suriage and debana techniques
And more!
Discover the principle behind the ichibyoshi strike, central to modern kendo.
