The Okinawa Traditional Kobudo Preservation Society is teaching Shurite and kobudo self-defense techniques that have been handed down in Okinawa since ancient times.
The chairman, Masahiro Nakamoto, is a direct disciple of Chibana Choshin and Naga Ei Chozo in the Shurite tradition.
He also studied in Fuzhou, Fujian Province, China, at the government’s expense, under Master Chen Yi Qiu and Master Wan Xue Ying, both living national treasures in the Chinese government’s bujutsu world.
Since his return to Japan, he has restored the ancient Okinawan traditions of “sitting bujutsu” and “lying down bujutsu” and has taught them at dojos and at public universities and high schools.
